Service Engineer

About the position

The purpose of this role is to deal with hydro plant machinery. You will wear many hats and be responsible for a variety of tasks including servicing customers, developing and designing new products, managing projects, and traveling to customer sites to perform maintenance and repairs.

• Product and Process Specialist.


• Service immediate customer needs.


• Application Development / Product Design.


• New product introductions.


• Customer/Supplier/Vendor relations.


• Identify new product opportunities.


• Organize transfer meetings with sales, project management and customers.


• Project Management as required.


• On-site assessments, diagnosis, preventative maintenance, repairs and/or upgrades to customer’s equipment.


• Sales opportunity management as required.


• Contribute to company committees or initiatives as needed.


• Travel will be required as part of this position.


• Other duties may be assigned.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Engineering combined with competency in hydro plant machinery with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.


• Master’s degree a plus.


• Demonstrated skills mechanical or electrical engineering, organizational talents and ability to provide technical service to customers.


• Knowledge in Non-Destructive Testing/Quality assurance.


• Expertise in manufacturing, field services and commissioning.


• Knowledge about on-site machining.


• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.


• Proven ability to meet deadlines/successful completion of deliverables.


• Self-started with problem solving skills, and great attention to detail.


• Open-minded, communicative personality, enjoys working in international teams with people from different cultural backgrounds.


• Willingness to travel in African countries with hydro power or hydro power potential.


• Fluent verbal and written communication skills in English is mandatory. English fluent, French, Portuguese or German a plus.
