Senior Financial Accountant

About the position

The Senior Financial Accountant oversees after a company's accounts and has the overall responsibility for processing the day-to-day transactions. Provides advice to Senior Management about the financial implications of business decisions to aid growth and profit.

• Record financial transactions for project, department, or company


• Prepare financial statements for internal and external use


• Reconcile spending with budget as part of job costing


• Analyse financial performance and forecast longer term horizons


• Recommend methods and strategies for cutting cost


• Maintain records and support auditing efforts


• Advise company and/or department management on financial decisions


• Make upper-level strategy recommendations based on financials


• Submit accurate monthly bank reconciliations for approval


• Processing of journals to the general ledger.


• Ensure all journals are authorized before processing.


• Ensure that the relevant balance sheet account reconciliations are completed on a monthly basis and approve once done


• Ensure that the balance sheet account reconciliations are finalized on debtors and creditors and approve once done


• Responsible for debtors and creditors function


• Associate management style complies with Naledi management/leadership style as defined in the proposed management philosophy


• Adequate resources are available to support projects.


• Provide on the job training to all subordinates.

• BCom financial degree or relevant


• 5-10 years engineering manufacturing industry


• Judgment and decision making


• Compliance with relevant legislation


• Accounting principles and standards


• Advanced ERP experience required.


• Quantitative Easing (QE) experience will be an advantage.


• Treasury Management System (TMS)


• E-forex


• SARS E-filing


• Daily transaction reporting


• Strong analytical and problem-solving experience


• Communication and negotiation skills


• Proactive, self-starter with initiative


• Good communication, planning and time management skills.


• Advanced Microsoft office


• Ability to multi- task and handle pressure
