About the position

We are looking for a dynamic, target-driven Degree-qualified Engineer with exceptional interpersonal & negotiation skills, and knowledge & experience in the Energy Efficiency Optimization field - to take on the key role of BD MANAGER / SALES ENGINEER.

The successful candidate will be tasked with driving growth of the Company's Industrial Energy Services Business Line in KZN and will be required to utilise their strong knowledge of factory Utility Operations and Design, including Boilers, Cooling Towers, Chillers, Refrigeration, Heat Pumps etc. to provide commercial and technical support to Industrial Clients and Internal Business Partners.

SUMMARY OF ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drive sustainable financial growth through sales and forging strong relationships with all clients.
  • Achieve individual sales targets with required budgeted company gross and business margins
  • Execution of the sales strategy.
  • Formulate fit for purpose proposals to designated target markets with support from the tendering lead/bid team/subject matter experts.
  • Perform competitor analysis toward obtaining an increased market share
  • Meeting and knowing influential individuals in the Energy business
  • Ensure that the Company does business with quality customers who honour their contractual payment obligations
  • Own the proposal's development process and successfully turn it into sales
  • Conduct plant audits in order to develop an Energy Management Value Proposition to clients, including management of the design components for such and similar Engineering Studies.
  • Compile compelling sales support tools (presentations, case studies, brochures etc...) showing your understanding of customer needs and the transformative value our solutions bring
  • Enable growth of recurrent service offerings at key customers accounts by upselling and cross selling
  • Utilise a good understanding of Optimisation Tools, incl Cloud Based systems and other Data Analytics tools required to ensure efficient monitoring of Energy Management solutions
  • Utilise a strong knowledge of operational Energy Saving Measures, incl pumping system optimisation, demand side management, hardware upgrades etc. to provide commercial and technical support to Industrial Clients and Internal Business Partners.
  • Utilise a strong knowledge of factory Utility Operations and Design, incl Boilers, Cooling Towers, Chillers, Refrigeration, Heat Pumps etc. to provide commercial and technical support to Industrial Clients and Internal Business Partners.
  • Utilise a good understanding of other Decarbonisation Initiatives, incl Biomass for Energy Production etc. to enable Industrial Clients and the Company to achieve its decarbonisation goals.
  • Conduct, improve, extend, develop, promote, protect and preserve the business interests, reputation and goodwill of the Company
  • Ensure customer satisfaction
  • Formulate On Site Total Energy Efficiency Proposals specifically addressing client buying criteria and needs and requirements.
  • Devise tactical strategies to integrate into key "must win" customers strategies/ business plans
  • Communicate effectively with operations and subject matter experts to ensure the best possible solution for clients.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & COMPETENCE:

  • Degree (from a Reputable Institution) in either: Mechatronic, Electrical or Industrial Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years experience as a Design, Industrial or Production Engineer, with a specific focus on Utilities (Boilers, Cooling Towers, Chillers etc.) and implementation of general Energy Saving Measures.
  • A good understanding of Waste to Energy Technologies (Anaerobic Digestion, CHP, and Incineration etc.), Solar Power Plants and other decarbonisation initiatives will be beneficial.
  • ECSA Registration as a Professional Engineer would be an advantage
  • Customer facing experience providing value solutions to the customer and project managing the projects to handover stage
  • Proven leadership and mentoring skills
  • Outstanding Communication and Organizational skills
