About the position

Our valued client in the FMCG industry seeks to employ an Optimization, Process, and Recoveries Engineer. 

 

This permanent role is based in the scenic South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal.

 

We will only shortlist candidates with a Chemical Engineering,  BTech or Degree  On your CV we need to see statistics that reflects the following improvements in your plant, through the following systems: 

  1. Process Optimization: They analyze and evaluate existing production processes to identify areas where improvements can be made. This involves studying the entire process from start to finish, including raw material input, equipment, and output, to find ways to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.
  2. Data Analysis: Engineers in this role often rely heavily on data analysis and modeling to understand process variables, predict outcomes, and identify opportunities for optimization. They might use statistical methods, simulation software, and mathematical models to assess and improve processes.
  3. Troubleshooting: When issues or inefficiencies arise in a production process, these engineers are responsible for troubleshooting the problems. They investigate root causes and develop solutions to rectify them, whether it involves equipment malfunctions, material quality issues, or other factors affecting production.
  4. Recovery Improvement: In industries where materials or valuable resources are involved, like mining or chemical processing, these engineers focus on maximizing the recovery of valuable components from raw materials or waste streams. They design and implement recovery processes to extract as much value as possible from inputs.
  5. Environmental Considerations: Many Optimization, Process, and Recoveries Engineers also work on sustainability initiatives. They seek ways to reduce waste, emissions, and environmental impact while maintaining or improving process efficiency and profitability.
  6. Technology Integration: They stay updated on emerging technologies and innovations in their field and assess whether these new technologies can be integrated into existing processes to improve performance.
  7. Cost Analysis: Part of their role involves conducting cost-benefit analyses for proposed changes or improvements. They need to justify investments in new equipment or process modifications by demonstrating the potential for cost savings or increased revenue.
  8. Safety and Compliance: Ensuring that all process modifications and optimizations adhere to safety regulations and industry standards is crucial. Engineers in this role work closely with safety and regulatory teams to ensure compliance.
  9. Project Management: Depending on the scale of the optimization projects, they may be responsible for managing projects from conception through implementation. This includes budgeting, scheduling, and coordinating various stakeholders.
  10. Documentation and Reporting: Maintaining detailed records of process changes, improvements, and outcomes is essential for accountability and continuous improvement. They often prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to management and colleagues.
Must have :

BTech or Degree in Chemical Engineering 

4 to 7 years in Chemical Processing and or Optimization within a Production Plant 

Statistical data to prove your ability to optimize processes 

SAP and or a Similar Software System Knowledge and Skill 

Big Data Analysis Skills 

Excellent Excel Skills 

Able to manage and drive staff and to train staff on new system implementation
