About the position

Orthotics & Prosthetics Practice Assistant - Centurion
Our client, an orthotics and prosthetics practice based in Centurion is seeking to recruit a medical administrator and clinical assistant to assist with orthopaedic services. This role primarily involves working in a clinical setting, assisting orthotists and prosthetists in providing patient care. Clinical experience (i.e., orthotist assistant, nursing assistant etc) is a must.

Traveling between hospitals in Centurion to attend to patients are required.

The assistant may also be required to handle administrative tasks, communicate with patients, and collaborate with other professionals.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist orthotists and prosthetists in patient care activities.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring all tools and equipment are sterilized and ready for use.
  • Schedule appointments, manage patient records, and provide administrative support.
  • Assist in the fitting and adjustment of orthotic and prosthetic devices.
  • Educate patients on the proper use and care of their orthotic/prosthetic devices.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care plans.
  • Handle phone inquiries and communicate effectively with patients and their families.
  • Support inventory management by tracking supplies and placing orders as needed.
  • Adhere to ethical standards and maintain patient confidentiality.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma additional relevant nursing or equivalent medical qualification
  • Previous experience in a healthcare or orthotics/prosthetics setting is preferred.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Basic computer skills for record-keeping and scheduling.
  • Physical ability to assist with patient transfers and movements.
  • Own transport

Working hours:

  • Monday to Friday, 07h00 - 16h00 (possibly earlier if needed)
  • On call/standby every 3rd weekend
