About the position

Our client, an international NPO based in Northern Suburbs, is seeking an Accountant. Reporting to the Head of Finance, the incumbent will be responsible for Human Resource administration, as well as financial administration, including processing company financial transactions, preparing financial management reports and executing key financial controls within the finance department. The role may include some travel for the purpose of training and attending external meetings. Occasionally, there may be the need to work at weekends or during anti-social hours, for which notice and time off in lieu will be given.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for leave administration.
  • Responsible for running the company's Africa payroll, in collaboration with the Head of Finance and Shared Services.
  • Responsible for payroll journals.
  • Responsible for EMP201 & EMP501 submissions.
  • Responsible for monthly payroll reconciliations.
  • Responsible for the company's Discovery Group Medical Scheme administration.
  • Responsible for the company's Discovery Health Company administration.
  • Medical case manager – quotes, invoices, authorisations and follow up with medical aids - work closely with medical team.
  • Assist with drawing up financial management reports.
  • Assist with the annual audit process.
  • Other ad hoc duties as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualification in Management Accounting or similar
  • Experience with SAGE Pastel Partner
  • Experience with SAGE payroll system.
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Practical knowledge and experience of working in business environment with departmental, project costing and allocation.
  • Good experience/knowledge of Accounting Software packages advantageous
