About the position

Our client, a leading Manufacturing company, based in Sterkspruit (Eastern Cape), is looking to fill the position of Maintenance Team Leader.

Purpose of the Role:
Reporting to the Quarry Manager, the successful incumbent will manage and control the Electrical and Mechanical Maintenance function of the Aggregate and Concrete Plants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the execution of maintenance activities to maximize availability of plant and equipment.
  • Execute maintenance policy and compliance with maintenance standards.
  • Maintenance scheduling and preventative maintenance.
  • Prepare and manage budget in line with the company's financial policies and procedures.
  • Manage and support SHEQ initiatives to achieve company's SHEQ objectives.
  • Champion safety initiatives and build commitment to sustain improvements in safety.
  • People management and development of team members by promoting positive engagement, accountability, delivering results and showing an increase in delivery capacity.
  • Coach staff on daily responsibilities.
  • Supervise and guide a team to maximise revenue.
  • Meet with team on a daily basis.
  • Develop a safe and positive work environment for staff.
  • Encourage and recognize performance.
  • Perform disciplinary enquiries when required.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Delegate work, manage workload and output of subordinates.
  • Ensure adequate staff levels to cover for absences and peaks in workload.
  • Control overtime in line with quarry managers instructions.
  • Compliance with relevant legal prescriptions and constraints.
  • Compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Compliance with company, statutory and legal requirements by studying and understanding requirements.
  • Advising management of any needed actions.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results .
  • The list of tasks or duties and responsibilities is not exhaustive and may be changed at any time, based upon the operational requirements.
  • Obey the legitimate instruction of the Quarry Manager and of any employee in authority over them.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Grade 12 Senior Certificate
  • Related Maintenance qualification
  • N5 Qualification
  • Millwright Trade Tested (Strong Electrical Knowledge)
  • 7 years minimum post qualification experience
  • 3 years minimum experience in a heavy industrial environment
  • 2 years supervisory or leadership experience
