A vacancy exists for a Resident Engineer (Mechanical) to commence duties for the eThekwini (Durban) office in the Buildings and Structures sector with immediate effect. This post will be based on site in Estcourt. The successful candidate will be required to use his/her private vehicle for site duties.

Main Responsibilities

Report to the Project Manager

Be able to manage multi million rand mechanical capital contracts

Establish and maintain a complete project documentation system, utilizing client's electronic project controls software system

Inspect materials delivered to site for compliance with specifications and approved submittals

Construction Management inclusive of site monitoring

Prepare and distribute weekly progress, special, and monthly summary reports

Witnessing of all mechanical tests both factory and on site

Programme Management

Serve as the interface between the contractor, engineer of record, client, and operating personnel

Minimum Qualifications, Skills and Experience

National Diploma: Mechanical Engineering

Competency with OHS Act

Knowledge of EPWP by National Department of Public Works

Proficient with National Department of Public Works Technical Standards

Mechanical Trade Test (Preferable)

Acquisition of diversified skills pertinent to mechanical trade
