Our client is looking for an admitted attorney with 2-5 years experience (post qualification as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa) within the Labour Law environment to be considered for appointment as a senior Associate in our well established Labour Law department.

 

Qualifications

• A suitable legal qualification (4-5 year LLB degree) with preferably, a Master’s degree (LLM) or higher Diploma in Labour Law

 

Experience/Criteria

• Be an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa, currently practising as such
• Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Be highly motivated
• Give attention to details with a stressful environment
• Be driven to achieve results for clients
• Have excellent drafting skills
• Have experience in appearing in the Labour Court and employment tribunals/CCMA
• Have a valid driver’s licence and own vehicle
• Must be a South African citizen

 

Main job function

Our Labour Law Department offers the full spectrum of services to our mainly corporate client base on all employment related matters, including but not limited to:

• Dealing with unions, collective bargaining agreements and issues arising from collective bargaining
• Mergers and acquisitions – all employment aspects
• Restructuring and transfers of undertakings
• Retrenchments and mass dismissals, appearances in Labour Court
• Outsourcing issues
• Individual cases: proving advice and appearing at CCMA
• Discrimination cases: dealing with and appearances
• Private arbitration: conducting same
• Advice on retirement funding, compensation and benefits
