POSITION OVERVIEW:

 

Management of Engineering Disciplines for EPCM Mineral and Metals Processing Mining Projects reporting to the Engineering Director

Critical Competencies:

 

Education:

 

• Bsc. Degree in Engineering or relevant technical diploma

 

Experience:

 

• A minimum of 10 years’ experience in engineering management within a projects environment

 

KEY REQUIREMENTS & RESPONIBILITIES (but not limited to):

• General management and coordination of the various projects within the business unit
• Responsible for the management of the engineering personnel within the business unit
• Responsible for the drawing up of large Project Specifications and ensuring the Contractual conditions are adhered to
• Experienced and responsible for the management of the design of all  phases  of a project and  execution programming of a project
• Co-ordination of Internal approval of conceptual designs for functionality and scope compliance
• Well versed in Civil, Structural, Mechanical and Electrical design and  interfacing between drawing office and suppliers from layout to detailed engineering phase
• Familiar with the lifecycle of products and systems, from need identification through conceptualization, detail design, manufacturing, testing, commissioning and the compilation of maintenance documents
• Compile technical enquiries together with Process Engineers, Studies Managers and Project Managers
• Adjudicate tenders and finally procure selected equipment
• Responsible for Planning of Resource allocations per project, i.e. 
• Cost Control Management- Control departmental budget
• Approval of payment certificates for sub-consultant and sub contractors
• Technical Services and support during all the phases including construction
• Ensure that standards and specifications are compliant and implement a Knowledge management system
• Governance and Risk Management
• Monthly reports to the CEO:
• Review project schedules for achievability
• Project review meetings to review the overall performance status
• Facilitation of Peer review and Design review
• Quality Management:
• Ensuring design adherence to the various code requirements both local and international.  Compiling and responsible for strategy in line with the company’s direction focus and principals
• Human Resource management - Stakeholder Relationship management
• Liaison with and co-ordination of external professionals and consultants
