Our client requires a experienced DBA who will be responsible for the support and maintenance of their database and related environments.

Duties:
Ensure 24x7 uptime of content management system and related web sites
Ensure optimum performance of CMS and related sites
Facilitate code releases and changes to databases
Produce technical documents and diagrams on infrastructure
Ensure database infrastructure is optimised for performance and uptime
Ensure that databases are backed up and can be recovered in cases of data loss

Ensure adequate event and performance monitoring is implemented
After hours standby when needed

Skills:

Strong Microsoft Windows Server 2008 IIS 7 and Microsoft SQL Server 2008
Able to write SQL queries
Good networking skills
Strong troubleshooting skills
Monitor infrastructure
Understanding of online publishing business and environment
Good analytical skills as well as multi-tasking abilities
Communication skills and the ability to help in the creation of clear and concise documentation
Good problem solving/solution focused skills

Qualifications/Experience:
Diploma or degree in IT or relevant work experience required
Microsoft qualification preferred
At least 3 years’ experience in a Microsoft web and SQL environment
Familiarity with databases and web programming languages and automation

Experience in High Availability and failover scenarios, load balanced environments
Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills
Excellent Documentation processes and procedures skills
Solid experience with multi-server environment / deployments
Experience with Microsoft Windows Server
Experience in Virtual environments such as VMWare would be beneficial
Experience in server hardware a plus.
