HV Field Engineer

About the position

heavily involved in the production, and sale of large low voltage and high voltage lithium-based battery systems as well as supporting systems.
 
 
The client is in the renewable energy sector based in Roodepoort.

They are looking for an intermediate to senior electrical engineer to join their High Voltage team for site commissioning and client interaction with the intention of deploying solutions that work and work well.

• Design of systems based on Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) battery chemistry.
• Experience in high voltage DC design.
• Ability to offer feedback on practical systems based on theoretical electrical knowledge.
• Technical understanding of electrical flow, three-phase and single-phase design, protection circuitry and earthing.
• Testing and debugging LiFePO4 BMS (Battery Management Systems).
• Analysis on 3-phase AC including phase-shift and amplitude based fault diagnosis and rectification.
• Ability to read and understand technical documentation in detail.
• Good communication skills.
• Understanding of HV and electrical safety and code.
• Excellent teamwork.
• Software development experience advantageous.
• Traveling to sites (Geographically generally within South Africa, however nearby African countries as well).
• Ensure that the system that is installed is done so according to the agreed upon specification and provide sign off from the company stating that work done is according to specification.
• Document and provide feedback to both the department as well as the client for any issues experienced and work done on site.
• Interact with the customer on any issues that may arise, identify faults and provide technical resolution to the solution; including liaising with company engineers for off-site analysis and providing a path forward.

Education:  Minimum Requirements

• BEng (Electrical) / BSc (Electrical Engineering) / BTech (Electrical Engineering). Other engineering and technical fields may also apply if sufficiently similar.

 
Job Experience & Skills Required: 

• 2 – 5 years’ experience with lithium LFP (LiFePO4) systems of which at least 6 months of which with LFP energy systems above 400V DC.
• 2 – 5 years’ experience with inverters, PCSs and grid-interactive systems.
• Valid South African drivers license required as position includes travel
