HUMAN RESOURCE BUSINESS PARTNER

JOB GRADE: D4

Corporate Support Business Unit has a vacancy for a Human Resource Business Partner in their Human Resource Department. Applications are invited from people meeting the qualifications and experience requirements set out below.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
Work in partnership with all areas of the business to provide and lead in specialist HR service, support and influence that enable key clients to effectively deliver their people plans. Provide a consultancy service that delivers HR best practice and focused HR solutions that support the support the business area in conjunction with other HR function.

CRITICAL PERFORMANCE AREAS:

  • Position the role of Business Partner as an integral part of the client management team by developing effective working relationships, influencing, challenging the senior management team on their personal style and the development and delivery of their people plans in support of the achievement of the business area and HR strategies.
  • Develop and implement a HR strategy and plan for Business Unit and monitor progress and impact against plan
  • Equip key clients with appropriate tools and knowledge to effectively manage their people in line with their people plans e.g. performance management, absence management, career management etc.
  • Enable client departments to recruit, develop, motivate, deploy, reward and manage talent required to deliver organizational objectives.
  • Drive the research, design and development of HR initiatives in support of the HR strategy, using expert knowledge of the client area.
  • Drive transformational advice on change management initiatives, organizational/ departmental restructures / job role design etc. in order to improve efficiency; clarify accountabilities and empower delivery of great customer service.
  • Working in partnership with line managers, manage employee relations issues including the ongoing relations with the trade unions.
  • Build management responsibility and capability for managing ER/IR issue (where appropriate) and improve the effectiveness of consultation.
  • Work in partnership with HR specialist team to ensure that the appropriate operational HR functions are enacted to deliver integrated HR solutions.
  • Drive the implementation of key change initiatives with client departments with regard to values, culture, leadership, behaviors and performance.
  • Identify short, medium and long term resourcing issues; co-ordinate with the Manpower Planning, Talent Acquisition and Talent Development teams about workforce supply and demand; engage clients on new roles, replacement and recruitment and retention strategies.
  • Embed a performance management culture within the business area as a means of driving business improvement by ensuring clear objectives, feedback through behavior aligned with Armscor values.
  • Contribute to the development of the wider HR strategy and work closely with the Human Resource Management team and other partners to ensure cohesive and coordinated services across the organisation.
  • Support the client department with management development of their people, providing advice, guidance and ad-hoc training on Individual Development Plans; and work with the HR Specialist teams to establish and introduce systems that identify employees with high potential and development career paths in consideration of key roles for succession planning and self-development.
  • Anticipate business challenges and translate these into practical people management solutions.
  • Reviewing and advising managers on job description writing for all positions and ensuring they are updated and maintained.
  • Ability to communicate and engage with employees at all levels internally and with external stakeholders.
  • Responsible to task, mentor and develop the Recruitment Consultant(s) to ensure the client department's workforce requirements are met in an effective and efficient manner and in line with the Armscor Recruitment Practice.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of HR systems, process, practices and plans that leads to the success and effectiveness of the HR Department.
  • Provide timely, accurate and well formatted information and reports for Executive Manager HR to plan and monitor people utilisation and effectiveness.

QUALIFICATION

  • BCom HRM / Industrial Psychology or similar
  • Postgraduate qualification in IR or HRM will be an advantage

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 9 years' experience
  • Broad generalist experience with HR function operating at an advisory level
  • Recruitment and interviewing experience essential
  • Experience in supporting managers and employees through performance and

employee relations issues
