HSE Officer at Adcorp

About the position

The HSE Officer reports to the HSE/HR Manager and will be based at the office in Richards Bay

Purpose of the position

-To re-implement and maintain the HSEQ Management System and perform HSE related duties at the premises and at customer sites. Carry out tasks within a continuous improvement loop. Contribute to developing and shaping the HSE culture within his/her scope of work.

Candidate will be accountable for:-

• Implement and maintain the Integrated HSEQ Management System (OHSAS18001, ISO14001, ISO9001) Certification

• Check the effectiveness of the Integrated Management System and the implementation of the policies and procedures in the HSEQ MS to attain company objectives.

• Coordinate with the various departments of company in regards to HSEQ MS certification
• Prepare Standard Operating Procedures and other system requirements in consultation with the various departments, recommend improvement to existing procedures and standardizes forms used in preparation to and as a requirement for System certification
• Conduct/assist HSEQ MS audit and evaluate different areas and processes of the company to monitor compliance to applicable Standards, existing policies and procedures of the company
• Check the effectiveness of the Integrated Management System and the implementation of existing policies and procedures necessary for the attainment of company objectives.
• Assist in drawing up strategies and action plans to attain objectives and effectively implement the formulated corrective and preventive actions.
• Recommend measures on improving the Integrated Management System and maintain the Company's Integrated Management System Certification.
• Promote awareness to all individuals of the organization on the HSEQ MS Standards and other existing policies and procedures of the company thru trainings and presentations.
• Participate in Department of Labour inspections
• Perform legal duties such as inspections, incident investigations, reporting to the HSE/HR Manager (at client and customer sites).
• Conduct safety audits on sub-contractors, manufacturing suppliers and suppliers.
• Monitor the reporting of accident and investigating incidents, to determine root causes and appropriate remedial measures.
• Identify hazardous conditions and practices in the workplace.

Education and Experience

• Matric
• Code 08 Licence
• Grade 12
• National Diploma Safety Management / Environmental Health or Studying towards these qualifications will be advantageous.
• COMSOC 1 and 2 or SAMTRAC qualification.

• HIRA Training

• Ability to work independently and be pro-active

• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Good planning & organisational skills
• Must have experience in implementation and auditing of an integrated HSEQ Management System in line with ISO[Phone Number Removed]; and 18001
• 5+ years' experience as a HSE Officer
• 2+ years' site HSE experience
• Contractor Management experience will be advantageous
