Job Overview: The ER/HR Business Partner will play a pivotal role in fostering positive employee relations, aligning human resources strategies with business objectives, and ensuring compliance with South African labor laws. This position requires a proactive and strategic HR professional who can effectively collaborate with local leadership, manage employee relations, and contribute to the overall success of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Employee Relations:
- Proactively manage and resolve employee relations issues in compliance with South African labor laws.
- Conduct thorough investigations and provide guidance to employees and managers.
- Collaborate with management to address and prevent workplace conflicts, ensuring a positive and inclusive work environment.
Strategic HR Planning:
- Partner with South African business leaders to understand local organizational goals and develop HR strategies that align with legislative requirements.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of HR policies, procedures, and programs in adherence to local regulations.
- Performance Management:
- Assist in the development and execution of performance management processes, considering local cultural factors and legal requirements.
- Provide guidance on goal-setting, feedback, and performance improvement plans.
Talent Acquisition and Retention:
- Collaborate with the Talent Acquisition team to support recruitment efforts in compliance with employment equity and diversity regulations.
- Identify and implement retention strategies, taking into account the unique challenges and opportunities within the South African labor market.
Training and Development:
- Assess training needs within the South African context and coordinate with the Learning and Development team to implement relevant programs.
- Provide guidance on career development opportunities for employees in alignment with local cultural expectations.
- HR Metrics and Reporting:
- Utilize HR metrics to measure and analyze key performance indicators, providing insights and recommendations to South African leadership.
- Generate regular reports on HR activities and trends, ensuring compliance with local reporting requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree (NQF7) or equivalent in Human Resources, Employee/Labour Relations, Personnel Management Labour Law (LLB) Preferable
- Minimum of 3-5 years Human Resources or Employee Relations experience, of which at least two (2) years should be within the mining or minerals related Industry
- Experience with Trade Union Shop Stewards, running disciplinary cases, reading and interpret legislation policies and agreements, drafting report and conducting trend analysis
- Experience with The Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) cases
- Ability to work with the full Microsoft suite (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Advantageous: Experience in managing pre-arbitration, Labour Court Cases and training/ upskilling of colleagues
