GIS Analyst
FIXED-TERM CONTRACT (12 Months)

SENTECH is looking for GIS Analyst who will be responsible for geospatial analysis, demographic analysis, dataset management and optimization, GIS platform and processes, which includes the development and maintenance of a GIS database, gathering and manipulation of GIS project components, identification, procurement and validation of spatial data, the use and maintenance of GIS applications, constantly refining analyses procedures and maintaining a spatial database.

The incumbent will be required to effectively quantify, report and graphically represent geographical data and to support and maintain web integrated interfaces and databases where required in the Broadband Connectivity and Digital Solutions domain.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure the availability of up-to-date spatial and demographic datasets and software tools
• Manage the administration and maintenance of spatial and demographic databases, ensuring the accuracy and validity of all datasets.
• Perform GIS analysis and cartographic duties.
• Maintain detailed documentation of GIS processes, analysis conducted and reports.
• Provide training to technical staff on the use of GIS tools and data to conduct analysis

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications/Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
• GIS certification / qualification from relevant and reputable institution

Experience:

• Minimum 5 years relevant experience in a GIS environment in the telecommunications industry
• Experience with GIS software tools, datasets and the utilisation of GIS in the telecommunication industry
• Experience in radio networks will be an advantage

Knowledge:

• Comprehensive understanding of spatial data formats (both vector and raster), spatial data manipulation and conversion, geographic and cartographic principles and map projections
• Comprehensive understanding of using GIS software tools for geospatial analysis and cartographic representation
• Comprehensive understanding of different GIS datasets available and where to source these.
• Basic understanding of broadband technologies, including fibre-optic networks, microwave point-to-point and point-to-multipoint networks, broadband core, distribution, and access networks.
