About the position

Our client, a well-established Information Technology company based in Durban, is looking to fill the position of ERP Software Support Engineer.

Purpose of the Role:
The ERP Software Support Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and optimal performance of all the organization's client ERP software sites. This role involves troubleshooting issues, resolving technical problems, and providing assistance to end-users. The support engineer collaborates with other IT professionals and may be involved in system implementation, upgrades, and customization.

Key Responsibilities:
User Support:

  • Provide timely and effective support to end-users experiencing issues with the ERP software.
  • Assist users in navigating the software, resolving user-related problems, and addressing enquiries.

Troubleshooting:

  • Diagnose and escalate technical issues with the development team.
  • Collaborate with the development team to identify and address any underlying system issues.

Customization and Configuration:

  • Work with users to understand their needs and implement software modifications accordingly.

Software Updates:

  • Coordinate and support software updates, patches, and version upgrades.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of common issues, resolutions, and software configurations.
  • Create and update user guides, knowledge base articles, and training materials.
  • Testing of new releases and bug fixes.

Training:

  • Conduct training sessions for end-users to enhance their understanding of the ERP software.
  • Provide ongoing support and education to users on new features and updates.

Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, analysts, and project managers, to implement changes and improvements to the ERP software.
  • Communicate effectively with users and stakeholders to gather requirements and feedback.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Grade 12 Senior Certificate
  • Qualification in Information Technology, Business Administration & Accounting, OR at least 5 years practical ERP Support experienced.
  • Previous experience in ERP software support or a similar role.
  • Familiarity with the specific ERP software used by the organization.
  • Proficient in ERP software functionalities, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of database management and SQL queries.
