Corporate Legal Advisor

About the position

As a Legal Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in guiding our corporate governance policies, negotiating, and drafting lease agreements, and managing funding contract agreements. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring that our operations comply with legal standards and in protecting our company's interests in all contractual matters.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and oversee the implementation of corporate governance policies and procedures.
• Negotiate, draft, and review lease agreements to support our retail expansion and operations.
• Manage funding contract agreements, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and alignment with our financial strategies.
• Provide legal advice on a wide range of issues affecting the retail industry, including regulatory compliance, risk management, and intellectual property.
• Liaise with external legal counsel as needed and represent the company in legal proceedings.
• Stay abreast of legislative changes that may impact the retail industry and advise on necessary actions.

Education:

• LLB

Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in a corporate legal advisory role, with a focus on corporate governance, lease agreements, and funding contract agreements.
• Experience within the retail industry is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to handle complex legal issues.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with a proven track record of effectively drafting and interpreting legal documents.
• A proactive, solution-oriented approach to problem-solving.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Preferably from Cape Town
