About the position

Are you an experienced Claim Handling professional?

Our client is a Pan African insurance broker with presence in South Africa, sub-Saharan Africa and Mauritius. This role plays a key part of the company claims function and requires delivery of efficient and professional claims' service across the Property and engineering portfolio across all territories.

Based in Johannesburg you will have the following duties and responsibilities: 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Processing new insurance claims notifications and guiding insured with the claim

- Collecting accurate information and documentation to continue with the assessment of a claim

- Assess claims in accordance with service level and quality requirements and the General Code of Practice. This includes determining coverage, responding to customer queries, providing updates, and requesting additional information as needed to manage a claim.

- Ensure systems, procedures and controls are followed and make sure claims are investigated adequately and accurately, and are monitored and updated timeously.

- Ensure that valid claims are paid and that they are brought to a successful conclusion. This may involve liaison with policyholders, other professionals, insurers, loss adjusters, attorneys, and third parties by letter, telephone, or meetings.

- Monitor performance and processes of service providers, raising breaches to Directors.

- Handling any complaints associated with a claim and alert directors and account executives on accounts that attract high frequency losses for preparation of renewal terms

- Monitoring and handling of any recoveries and applying the Key fraud Indicators to the claims. Ensuring the customer is treated fairly and that the customer receives excellent service.


REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Relevant Insurance Industry Qualifications 

- Complex Claims experience required (Property and engineering experience essential)

- Strong negotiation, written and verbal communication skills

- Demonstrable Claims product knowledge with a strong Client Focus

- Results driven with ability to handle highly complex claims daily

- Able to work under pressure within a team environment
