About the position

This position exists within a small and dynamic firm of Consulting Engineers, based on the East Rand of Johannesburg. This is a growing company with a full order book and excellent client relationships that will ensure a steady and continuous flow of work.

Responsibilities:
- Conduct feasibility studies and site investigations.
- Collaborate with architects and other professionals to develop project plans.
- Lead the design process for stormwater networks, sewer reticulation networks, water reticulation networks, bulk earthworks, and internal pavements.
- Develop comprehensive stormwater management reports and outline scheme reports for council submission.
- Liaise with municipal council officials for services tie-ins and approvals.
- Foster strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and team members.
- Understand and incorporate structural requirements into civil service designs.
- Collaborate with structural engineers to ensure seamless integration of civil and structural components.
- Oversee and manage projects from conception to completion.
- Develop project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
- Monitor project milestones and ensure adherence to timelines.
- Conduct thorough quality checks and reviews of project deliverables.
- Stay abreast of local, state, and federal regulations relevant to civil engineering.
- Identify areas for process improvement and implement best practices.
- Prioritize and enforce health and safety standards on project sites.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures.
- Ensure client satisfaction by delivering high-quality designs and meeting project objectives.
- Maintain accurate and organized project documentation.
RequirementsQualifications and Experience
- BSc / BEng - Civil Engineering
- 3 - 5 years of proven work experience in civil engineering.
- Strong knowledge and competence with Civil 3D, AutoCAD, SSA, HEC-RAS, and Revit.
- Extensive experience in designing the following areas for property developments:
- Stormwater networks
- Sewer reticulation networks
- Water reticulation networks
- Bulk earthworks
- Internal pavements
- Proficient in developing storm water management reports and outline scheme reports for council submission.
- Familiarity with the design requirements of the property development industry, including residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
- Experience liaising with municipal council officials for services tie-ins and approvals.
- Strong capability in client interactions, ensuring clear communication and understanding of project goals.
- Good understanding of development's structural requirements when designing civil services.
- Experience in running projects is beneficial.
