About the position
Our client is looking for a Drill Rig Operator to be based on a mine in Elukwatini, Mpumalanga.
Rate: 50 to 60 per hour. This is a 1 year Fixed Term Contract
Requirements are:
- Valid Drill Rig certificate and license
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in the same or similar role
- Experience in the mining industry will be advantageous, specifically opencast mining.
- Sound knowledge and experience of open cast mining practices and operations.
- Competent B Certificate (advantage)
- Experience with blasting (advantage)
Duties:
- Operate drill equipment according to company procedures and standards.
- Read drill pattern instructions or diagrams.
- Measure drill holes and inspecting drill pattern.
- Operate a variety of drilling machines to bore blast holes to specified depths at stake positions.
- Conduct daily safety checks and inspections of the equipment before operating.
- Monitor equipment and report any deficiencies according to proper mine operating procedures.
