About the position
VBKOM (Pty) Ltd is a consulting firm within the mining industry where it provides various services to blue chip and junior mining clients to develop mining resources. These services include but are not limited to geological modelling and interpretation, mining engineering, metallurgical engineering, industrial engineering, project & risk management as well as project and operational support. This position will fall in the mining engineering discipline.
VBKOM is looking for a mining professional with extensive underground mining operational as well as optimization, design and scheduling experience. The candidate will also be exposed to various other commodities as well as open pit technical services.
Responsibilities:
- Performing technical mining planning tasks and outputs on an expert level
- Sourcing geological information and converting it into mining models - Block modelling & re-blocking
- Perform Mining Studies (MWP, LOM, MTP, STP, Scoping/Concept, PFS, BFS)
- Pit/Stope Optimisation
- Mine Design
- Mine Scheduling
- Equipment Selection/Optimization
- Mine Cost Modelling
- Due Diligence Studies and Technical Audits
- Mining Right and Prospecting Permit Application
- Operation Support
- On-site planning & contractor management
- Productivity Improvement
- Equipment Usage Improvement
- Mining Operational Readiness
- Trade-off studies / Options analysis
- Lead and own Projects + Multiple projects involvement
- Mining related Inputs for Financial Modelling
- Technical Reports and CPR's
- Building service offering toolkits and competency
- Training, developing and mentoring team members
- Workshop Facilitation
- To continuously stay up to date with new technical/mining engineering developments and take personal accountability for personal development.
Requirements:
- Qualifications: BEng Mining Engineering
- 5 -12 years related experience
- Preferable: Consulting experience of at least 2 years Alignment with the VBKOM values published on our website at [URL Removed]
- Proficient in Mining Software (e.g., Surpac, Deswik, MineRP)
- Experienced in all project and operational phases
- Building Client relationship
