About the position

Manganese Metal Company (MMC), based in Nelspruit (Mpumalanga Province), is the world’s largest producer of 99.9% electrolytic manganese metal (EMM). The company has been in operation since 1974, has a unique global marketing network and is a niche market supplier of EMM to an established international customer base.


We supply more than 120 customers in over 20 countries and our systems, equipment, safe operating philosophy and excellent business practices provide our customers with peace of mind, first-class quality and reliable supply. Our products are used in the top-end of the market, in the aluminium, steel, non-ferrous alloys, rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, chemicals, electronics and welding consumables industries.

In this position, the job incumbent will be part of the management team that ensures the integration of all the functions in MMC. This position heads up the critical section responsible for ensuring that goods and services (in excess of R1 Billion Rand) are of the highest standards, always available, and procured at the most competitive prices.


MMC offers a very dynamic working environment, where the person will be part of the team that ensure production and delivery of the world’s highest quality EMM to customers all over the world, directly from Mbombela (Nelspruit).


  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Supply Chain Management or related areas

  • 10 years’ supply chain management experience in a large manufacturing environment at management level.

  • Engineering and finance knowledge

  • Data analysis and interpretation

  • Extensive exposure to store function as well as contract management and high-level negotiations.

  • Position is Office Based


  • Meet the procurement requirements against set goals of availability, quality, and price.

  • Management of optimal stock levels of raw materials and store items.

  • Management and maintenance of the supply chain information system.

  • Value adding by effective procurement of goods services.

  • Facilitate change management relating to products and services.

  • Advise operational team on critical decisions pertaining to capital projects.

  • Lead and manage the supply chain function.

  • Ensure compliance to all HSEQ, legislation, policies procedures.
